2. Car condition

When picking up the car, the rental company representative should have a report with them, in addition to the contract, detailing any imperfections found with the car: dents, scratches, chips, and cracks. This is important because if the defect isn't noted on the report, the rental company may assume the damage occurred during your use. This means the renter will be charged for the excess. 3. Deductible - what is it, do I need it?

After receiving a quote, we're often asked about the excess. This represents the level of risk you assume in the event of damage to your car. In our opinion, of course, you should consider price, but the final price. Large, international companies, especially those trying to entice people to choose their rental companies, initially present the price, for example, excluding insurance, which ultimately turns out to be mandatory. Some rental companies quote net prices instead of gross, leaving the customer surprised at the end because they didn't know they had to pay taxes. It's worth paying attention to what's included and what's not, and what will ultimately have to be paid, for example, an increase for the driver's age or an additional driver. 5. Rules and Restrictions: How to Avoid Extra Return Fees

If you want the only fee you'll have to pay upon checkout when renting a car, it's worth paying attention to the rental company's terms and conditions, rules, and restrictions. These range from basic ones like no smoking in the car or paying for any fines to those that may come as a surprise to some. It's worth checking whether you're required to return a clean, fueled car. If the car is returned dirty or with an empty tank, the rental company will add additional costs according to their price list. Check the mileage limit for your rental. If you drive more, the rental company will add an additional fee. It's also worth keeping an eye on the return time. Exceeding the agreed time will result in an additional day's fee.
